Another win for the proponents of a desert planet

I recently wrote to the glamorous Department of Fish & Wildlife, asking them to withdraw their ridiculous proposed revisions to the Endangered Species Act. Using that famous specious reasoning for which "misunderestimate me" Bush is famous, the Endangered Species Act would protect endangered species by promoting their importation (which had been previously banned under the Act). According to the ASPCA,
"Essentially, the proposed changes aim to protect threatened and endangered species by allowing for the taking and trading of those same species. It is absurd to argue that killing endangered species will help to protect them...It would seem that the primary purpose of the proposal is to profit from endangered and threatened species and to provide a ready supply of those animals to hunters, zoos, and circuses. "
My commentary (added to the end of a canned letter was a little more sweeping:

"This is just another incident in the long line of unjust, inept, and downright stupid policies, involving the environment and other "secondary" forms of life, coming out of this administration. The administration goes all out to protect a human blastocyte but is totally unconcerned with the welfare of animals, not to mention their disregard for the quality of the air we breathe, biodiversity, and even the presence of trees in our forests. I think we all know that "compassionate conservatism" is just a euphemism for corporate pillage and plunder. And here, as with so many other forms of legislation proposed by the regime, we have a complete reversal of the progress made by environmental groups and the Clinton administration over the last decade. The question becomes, how much more damage can you to do my community, this nation, and the planet as a whole?"

Take that, losers! Read all about the proposed revisions and what's so crazy about them at the ASPCA site.
